Meet DJ Shazam

An engineer's hands. A host's ear.

The first thing I do at any wedding is read the room — friends who want it loud, family who want in, three generations on one floor — and find the song that holds all of them. That ear isn't new. I was the beatboxing kid who was always on beat, the one who learned djembe, the friend everyone trusted with the playlist. Rhythm lived in my body long before I had the words for it.

The engineering came later — a mechanical-engineering degree, a college 3D-printing lab, and a habit of building things that hold up. That discipline went into the booth: wind, acoustics, load-ins, and power mapped before your date, so the read stays live and nothing breaks. Over 350 weddings in, the instinct and the systems work as one.

The Read

The room, read in real time.

Anyone can build a playlist. Knowing when to hold a track, when to pivot, and when the floor is ready to go off — that's the part that can't be pre-programmed. Your crowd is mixed: friends who want it loud, family who want in. I read both in real time and bridge them, so the floor fills early and stays full, and nobody feels left on the outside.

The Discipline

Calm is the craft.

Your timeline is the spine of the day. I map every transition with your planner before the date — vows to cocktail hour to first dance to peak floor — so the night moves on schedule without feeling rushed. No dead air between moments. No scramble at the handoffs. No MC turning himself into the main event. Just calm leadership, on the mic and off it.

The Venues

Hard venues are the specialty.

Coastal cliffs scatter sound. Redwoods swallow signal. Mountain sites mean punishing load-ins and power you can't take for granted. The environments that trip up standard vendors are the ones built into how I plan — the wind, the acoustics, the logistics all handled before the day, so your venue stays the backdrop instead of becoming the problem.
